Google is expanding AI Mode in Google Search to let users connect certain third-party apps to help complete tasks within search. According to multiple reports, users can currently link Instacart, Canva, and YouTube Music. The integrations are designed to work with requests made in AI Mode: Instacart can be used to add grocery-list ingredients directly into an Instacart shopping cart for quick ordering; Canva can provide related template options when creating content such as a flyer; and YouTube Music can be used to curate a playlist and save it to the user’s YouTube Music library.

Both outlets report that this app-connecting feature is limited to AI Mode in the United States and in English, and it is available through both the Google Search desktop experience and the Google Search iOS app. Google also advises users to enable history and personalized recommendations to improve the experience. The companies note that other apps are not yet supported in Search, though the feature set has previously been available in Gemini and may expand further. Google indicates it uses search interactions and the new AI features to develop and improve generative AI experiences.
