St. Louis signs forward Connor McMichael to a long-term deal following his acquisition from the Washington Capitals in the Jordan Kyrou trade. The Athletic reports the agreement is reached in a pre-arbitration settlement. Yahoo Sports and Yahoo Sports (NHL) report the contract runs for six years and carries an average annual value (AAV) of $6.75 million, which counts against the salary cap through the 2031-32 season. Yahoo Sports also states the total contract value is $40.5 million and that general manager Alex Steen, who began the role on July 1, announces the deal. Another Yahoo Sports report notes McMichael’s prior earnings: he makes $2.1 million in each of the past two seasons, and the new contract more than triples his salary. The Yahoo Sports (NHL) summary further indicates McMichael had been scheduled for an arbitration hearing before the settlement and signing. Across the reports, the main elements are the post-trade acquisition, the six-year term, the $40.5 million total value, and the $6.75 million AAV against the cap.
