The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) says it endorses President Bola Tinubu as its preferred candidate for Nigeria’s 2027 general elections, citing internal party policy and its “conviction” in his leadership direction. APGA National Chairman Sylvester Ezeokenwa made the remarks on Channels Television’s “Morning Show” on Friday, explaining that the decision is guided by both the party’s programme and a belief that Tinubu is “steering the country in the right direction” through reforms that APGA links to its own progressive agenda.
Ezeokenwa also places the endorsement within a stated party tradition. He says APGA previously aligned with then-President Goodluck Jonathan in the 2010–2011 period, and that the current policy basis remains unchanged. APGA, he said, views the endorsement as serving the interests of both the party and the country.
The party formally announced its endorsement of Tinubu on Wednesday, describing it as a decision that reflects APGA’s thinking ahead of the 2027 polls.
