Reliance Industries (RIL) reports lower quarterly profit for the June quarter, though revenue and operating metrics rise year-on-year. In the quarter ended June 30, RIL’s revenue from operations grows by 25% year-on-year to Rs 3.11 lakh crore, up from Rs 2.48 lakh crore in the same period last year. Quarterly EBITDA increases 10% to Rs 54,067 crore compared with the prior-year quarter. However, net profit attributable to owners falls 22% versus the year-ago quarter, reaching Rs 20,946 crore, according to a stock exchange filing. The decline is described in the reporting as being linked to the fact that the year-ago quarter included a gain from Asian Paints, which is not present in the current period. Overall, the company’s results show stronger top-line performance and higher EBITDA, while profit is lower due to a weaker year-on-year comparison.
