A Federal High Court in Abuja admits Bello Bodejo, the National President of Miyetti Allah Kauta Kore, to N2 billion bail in a case involving alleged money laundering tied to $2.63 million. Multiple outlets report that Justice Inyang Ekwo delivers the ruling after considering Bodejo’s bail application on Monday, holding that the offences he faces are bailable and that the court has discretion to grant bail.
The court orders Bodejo to provide two sureties in the sum of N2 billion each. Sources say one surety must be a resident of Abuja and present three years of tax clearance. The second surety must own landed property valued at N2 billion within the Federal Capital Territory.
Additional conditions reported include directing Bodejo to surrender his international passport to the court registrar and barring him from travelling outside Nigeria without the court’s permission.
