Police have identified a 14-year-old boy after a hoax threat was reported to an aircraft operated by Qatar Airways that was heading to Manchester Airport. Greater Manchester Police say the boy is not believed to have been on the flight and is assisting officers with their enquiries. The Ministry of Defence confirmed RAF Typhoon aircraft were scrambled from Lincolnshire on Friday to intercept the plane following the alert. The incident begins when Nats, the air traffic provider formerly known as National Air Traffic Services, receives the threat at around 6pm, prompting a response involving police, the RAF, and airport authorities. Multiple outlets report that the aircraft ultimately landed safely, with no threat found to passengers or crew. Police say the boy has been identified as being from Bolton and that investigations continue.
