Farmers across Madhya Pradesh continue a “Chalo Bhopal” agitation demanding 100% government procurement of summer moong at Minimum Support Price (MSP) and changes to the e-token system for fertiliser distribution. The protests, led under the banner of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha, begin in districts including Narmadapuram, Harda, Itarsi and others and move toward Bhopal, where demonstrators reach areas near major junctions and the Chief Minister’s residence. Police set up barricades and increase deployments to regulate movement, including at entry points to Narmadapuram and around Bhopal roads. Despite police efforts, protesters breach barricades at places such as 11-Mill Tiraha and RRL Square, where some groups stage roadside activities such as cooking food. The protest disrupts traffic on multiple routes and affects normal life, including school operations in some areas.
State officials and the Madhya Pradesh government indicate engagement with farmers. Agriculture Minister Aidal Singh Kansana and senior officials meet or hold talks with delegations and the CM says a committee is formed to discuss farmers’ issues. Farmer leaders say earlier discussions with district officials did not resolve key demands and they plan to continue the agitation until procurement and fertiliser-related demands are accepted. Separate reports also describe allegations of bus vandalism during the unrest in Narmadapuram.
