Gianni Infantino, the president of FIFA, is being asked to appear before a U.S. House committee following concerns raised by Democrats about his relationship with the Trump administration. In the letter, Raskin asks FIFA to provide records related to any gifts, payments, or benefits provided to Trump or his associates. The request also includes visitor logs for FIFA’s office space in Trump Tower, which FIFA acquired last year. Raskin further seeks a transcribed interview with Infantino as part of the committee’s fact-finding.
The request reflects congressional scrutiny of potential links between a major international sports organization and a U.S. political administration. The outlets also report that a leading Democratic lawmaker is questioning whether the relationship has extended beyond what is appropriate, prompting the committee to seek documentation before or alongside any testimony.
