Kyiv’s forces have continued to face weapons shortages, and lawmakers from across the political spectrum had previously backed the aid last year. Democrats and some Republicans criticized the Pentagon for holding up implementation of Ukraine assistance, arguing that delays leave Ukraine without timely equipment.
The reporting also says the Pentagon outlined its projected spending timeline in a May letter to Congress. Despite the authorization, the funds reportedly remain unspent and have not yet been placed under contract, according to the same accounts.
