Jason Cloth, a Hollywood financier and executive producer associated with films including “Joker” (2019) and “The Green Knight,” is charged with seven counts of wire fraud in connection with an alleged $100 million scheme. According to a federal grand jury indictment unsealed in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, authorities say Cloth diverted money provided by entertainment investors for purposes not disclosed to them.
Federal authorities allege that Cloth told investors their funds would be used for a motion picture and a gaming entertainment investment platform and other media-related projects. Instead, prosecutors say he diverted investor funds toward his personal life and other undisclosed uses. The indictment describes the conduct as a yearslong financial arrangement involving communications using electronic or wire systems, which forms the basis for the wire-fraud counts.
Cloth, 60, has been listed as a producer and executive producer through Creative Wealth Media, which is associated with major box-office and film projects. The sources report that he was arrested in Los Angeles after the indictment was unsealed.
