Electronic Arts (EA) is set to complete its previously announced $55 billion go-private transaction next week, according to reports from multiple outlets. EA says it will close the merger and transition to a private company by August 4, following the deal’s required approvals and regulatory process.
In a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) dated July 30, EA states that all regulatory approvals required to complete the merger have been obtained as of that date. The company’s disclosures also reference major franchises associated with its business, including Battlefield and The Sims, as part of identifying the company and the scope of its operations.
The planned closing follows EA’s announcement of the transaction earlier in the process, and the latest updates focus on meeting completion conditions tied to regulators. After the closing, EA will no longer be publicly traded as a result of the go-private deal, subject to the completion of the transaction on the scheduled timeline.
