The WNBA’s Dallas Wings will play all of their home games in downtown Dallas next season, according to team officials. The move places the Wings in the same arena as the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks. The Wings’ announcement comes as part of what is described as the franchise’s anticipated full-time relocation to downtown.
Although the team will play its complete home schedule at the American Airlines Center, multiple reports note that this situation is expected to be temporary. The Wings’ long-term plan is tied to the venue arrangements associated with the team’s 2024 agreement with the city of Dallas.
In 2024, the Wings signed a 15-year use agreement with Dallas to play in a renovated Dallas Memorial Auditorium. That arena has a smaller capacity of about 10,000 seats. The reports indicate the upcoming shift to the Mavericks’ home arena supports the Wings’ downtown presence while their longer-term downtown facility plan moves forward.
