The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) is reported to have carried out a precision airstrike that destroys a suspected terrorist hideout in Borno State, under Operation HADIN KAI. Security analyst Zagazola Makama reports that the strike took place on August 4 after intelligence indicated renewed insurgent activity around Chiralia, a forested area reportedly used as a hideout because of its difficult terrain and natural cover.
According to the reports, an Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) platform conducted armed reconnaissance around 11:40 a.m., identifying suspected terrorists moving in the area and concealed structures believed to function as shelters, logistics points, and staging areas. After confirmation, attack aircraft carried out precision strikes on the identified locations, recording direct hits on the concealed structures. A post-strike assessment reportedly found that the camp and its infrastructure were destroyed, with secondary explosions and fires indicating that weapons and supplies stored in the enclave were also eliminated.
The reports describe the mission as intelligence-driven and part of ongoing efforts to deny insurgents safe havens and disrupt their logistics.
