One reported implication of the shortage is that it contributes to Trump’s decision to pause large-scale strikes against Iran.
During the reported confrontation, Hegseth defended his position and pointed to Deputy Defense Secretary Stephen Feinberg, according to the accounts. The report says Hegseth blamed Feinberg for not ensuring Trump was fully informed about the state of Washington’s weapons stockpiles.
