Google announces updates to its Ask Maps feature in India, building on the Gemini-powered natural language query tool introduced in Google Maps in March. The company adds Hindi language support, allowing users to ask questions and get responses in Hindi. Google also introduces real-time public transit information, aimed at helping users check current travel details rather than relying only on static schedules.
In addition to language and transit updates, Google describes upgrades to personalization. Ask Maps now uses “Personal Intelligence” to provide more context-aware recommendations. Google says it can also remember previous conversations, so users can continue planning trips from where they left off instead of restarting their planning queries.
Across the reports, the emphasis is on a broader AI-driven overhaul of Ask Maps in India, combining natural language interaction, live transit data, and memory-based conversation continuity to improve trip planning and recommendations. The feature changes are presented as part of Google’s largest Maps update in more than a decade.
