A Nomura report finds that in India, AI-related hiring is outpacing job losses, presenting an early test case for how artificial intelligence affects employment. According to the report, India records 83,100 AI-linked hires during the study period, compared with 31,921 layoffs and attrition. The figures suggest net job gains tied to AI activity so far.
The report also places India within a broader Asia context. Across Asia, AI-related hiring totals 130,758 jobs in the same study period. More than 90% of these positions are in technology roles. On the losses side, the report estimates 60,654 jobs are lost across the region, with about 60% of those job losses occurring in financial services.
