The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says it has returned N125 million it recovered in connection with an alleged land fraud case to a Lagos businessman, Akinsewa Akiode. In a statement issued on Friday by EFCC Head of Media and Publicity Dele Oyewale, the agency said the recovered funds were presented to the complainant. Premium Times reports that, after concluding its investigation, the EFCC said it recovered the full N125 million from the suspect and returned it to the petitioner. Premium Times adds that the return was made through Sterling Bank drafts. Both outlets describe the action as part of the EFCC’s handling of a land fraud matter and present the returned amount as the full sum recovered from the suspect. The reports do not indicate that new charges were filed in the coverage provided, focusing instead on the conclusion of the recovery process and the return of the money to the complainant.
