Eight elected members of the Confederation of Indian Tamil Artistes Associations (CINTAA) resign, alleging “lack of transparency” and insufficient consultation in key decisions. The resignations are linked to concerns about how President Poonam Dhillon and Senior Vice President Padmini Kolhapure manage the organization, with members saying they were not consulted or given appropriate approvals for major actions.
Multiple outlets report that the group is demanding fresh elections. Times of India adds that more members may have resigned, stating that 11 members have stepped down and raising concerns related to official communication. It also reports that CINTAA’s legal team says the Executive Committee is still intact despite the departures. NDTV describes the resigning members’ allegations as centered on decision-making without consultation with, or approval from, the Executive Committee.
The dispute, therefore, centers on internal governance and whether proper processes are followed, alongside disagreement over the organization’s current leadership status and whether the Executive Committee’s functioning is affected by the resignations.
