Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 sales rise after the theatrical success of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, according to new sales estimates from Alinea Analytics. The firms’ data suggests the game sold about 316,000 additional copies on PS5 and PC via Steam after the film launches, with the lift attributed to increased player interest timed with the movie’s run.

Alinea head of market analysis Rhys Elliot says roughly 20% of the post-launch sales were physical units, while about 274,000 players are reported to have started the game through the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog for Extra and Premium tiers. Overall, the game is estimated at 18.2 million units sold to date, with 92% on PS5, and more than $1.2 billion in lifetime revenue. The outlets also cite pricing data indicating sales acceleration after the film’s debut, including higher daily PS5 sales at the current price compared with a February promotion.

GameSpot adds that Insomniac released a PS5 Pro-related update and the “Fresh Start” costume around the film’s release, while the movie also references game elements. Both outlets frame the relationship as potential media synergy, though they note the extent and repeatability of such effects are difficult to predict.
