Google has released Gemini 3.7 Flash, a new “workhorse” AI model aimed at coding and agentic workflows. The update arrives just three weeks after Gemini 3.6 Flash and is accompanied by a temporary 50% reduction in API pricing. Through Dec. 31, 2026, Google charges $0.75 per million input tokens and $3.75 per million output tokens (with context caching also discounted). From Jan. 1, 2027, prices are set to double.

Google positions the model as more capable for multi-step tool use and automation, saying it plans more diligently and executes tasks with fewer retries and less manual oversight. Its stated focus is on improved recovery when the model hits roadblocks and better fidelity to instructions—designed to reduce the need for human intervention in real deployments. DeepMind says the model shows gains in debugging, issue resolution, and business-oriented workflows, with improvements also reported on coding and web-development benchmarks.

Both outlets note that performance gains are not uniform across all evaluations. Google’s benchmarks show substantial improvements in several software engineering tests, but it does not claim universal leadership over higher-priced rivals. The reporting also highlights that Gemini 3.5 Pro is not broadly available on the timeline previously suggested, with Google continuing to emphasize faster iteration on the Flash line while the flagship Pro model remains absent.
