Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) interim Chief Minister Abdulraof “Sammy Gambar” Macacua says his convoy is ambushed while he is returning from a public engagement in Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte. He reports that his group is fired upon, but he and his companions escape unharmed.
Following the incident, Commission on Elections (Comelec) chairperson George Erwin Garcia orders the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to help determine who carried out the attack. In a separate statement, the PNP says it will coordinate with the military and other agencies to identify those responsible and take action in line with the law and due process.
While both outlets focus on the same attack and the response from Comelec and the security forces, one emphasizes Comelec’s directive for a formal probe, and the other highlights the PNP’s vow to pursue the attackers. Both point to ongoing efforts to identify perpetrators, with no reported arrests or confirmed motives at the time of reporting.
