Actress Antara Banerjee is arrested in Mumbai following an alleged incident aboard the Aravali Express on August 12, in which police claim she attacked Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel with a razor blade. The dispute reportedly begins after staff question her seating while she travels toward Surat for a shoot. Police allege she later undresses and injures an RPF assistant sub-inspector, with claims also that she damaged an officer’s uniform and mobile phone.
According to the FIR registered on August 13 and recounted by outlets, the confrontation occurs between Borivali and Dahanu, lasting about an hour. A passenger and railway staff intervene after she is said to enter an AC coach despite reportedly holding a sleeper-class ticket. RPF personnel secure the coach doors to prevent escalation. Reports add that Banerjee attempts to break the glass to leave and is deboarded at Dahanu station, after which she is handed over to Government Railway Police (GRP).
Sources describe that Banerjee is taken into custody the following morning by Borivali railway police and later released on bail. Outlets largely attribute her actions to the police account and eyewitness statements, with one officer suggesting she may have been distressed after failing to secure an AC coach ticket. Police say she refuses to contact relatives or legal counsel and demands to be arrested. The matter remains under investigation, and public reaction from Banerjee is not reported.
