On Day 2, Devdutt Padikkal's impressive 167 helped India post a formidable total of 460 for nine wickets. Although rain interrupted the match, Sri Lanka's bowlers showed resilience after the delay. KL Rahul added 82 runs before getting out to Nuwantha, while Dhruv Jurel chipped in with a solid 51 runs, ensuring India remains dominant despite Sri Lanka's spirited efforts.

He was eventually dismissed for 167 just before tea, deceived by the flight of left-arm spinner Prabath Jayasuriya. His innings, however, strengthened his case for the crucial No. 3 position, even with Sai Sudharsan expected to return from injury.India were 364 for five at tea and soon lost Ravindra Jadeja for 13 after the break.
