The Motion Picture Association (MPA) and ByteDance say they have reached an agreement aimed at protecting film and television intellectual property across ByteDance’s generative AI products. The deal covers ByteDance’s Seedance AI video models and Seedream AI image models, as well as other related offerings within the company’s AI suite.
Variety and The Hollywood Reporter both describe the agreement as a framework developed jointly to address IP concerns for the film and TV industries. Both reports indicate the MPA has been working on these issues for several months and that the new accord comes after earlier MPA engagement with ByteDance. The outlets focus on the scope of products covered and the nature of the arrangement, with both emphasizing that protections apply not only to Seedance, but also to ByteDance’s broader generative image and video capabilities.
