The Federal Government of Nigeria, in partnership with Meta, announces plans for an Artificial Intelligence Academy aimed at expanding Nigeria’s AI talent and supporting the digital economy. Reporting on the initiative, outlets say it is positioned as a public-private effort to build practical AI skills and create opportunities for startups.

According to Nigerian Eye and Punch, the programme links Meta’s resources with existing national efforts such as the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) initiative. Nigerian Eye adds further details on the academy’s structure, including AI skills training, a developer bootcamp led by Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Nigeria (RAIN), and a startup pitchathon tied to GITEX Nigeria on September 3. The same report says Coursera, DeepLearning.AI, and DataCamp will deliver courses at no cost, with top performers eligible for Meta Blueprint scholarships and advertising credits. It also describes prizes for selected startups and a planned trip to Meta’s AI Summit in Istanbul.

While Punch focuses more generally on the government–Meta partnership and talent goals, Nigerian Eye emphasizes the course content, partner platforms, and specific events and incentives.
