Katie Martin Kelley, an executive in film communications at Warner Bros., is leaving the studio to join Netflix as Vice President of Communications for film. Multiple outlets report she is set to begin her new role on Sept. 8.
At Netflix, she oversees communications for the streaming service’s feature film department, including live-action productions, documentaries and animation, and is reported to work in alignment with Netflix’s film leadership, including Dan Lin’s feature film portfolio. She is described as reporting to Netflix’s chief communications officer, Dani Dudeck.
The outlets also describe her prior career as extending beyond Warner Bros., with earlier experience leading communications at MGM and Paramount. Variety adds that she is replacing Emily Feingold, who left the role before the new hire was announced. Across the coverage, the move is framed as a significant shift within the film communications industry, moving from a studio role to a streaming platform leadership position.
