Spotify introduces “Playlist Notes,” a new feature that lets playlist creators and editors add explanatory context to items included in playlists. The notes can be attached to songs, podcast episodes, and audiobooks, and the feature also includes a way for selected Spotify editors to add additional information for tracks in major playlists.

The update extends Spotify’s earlier “User Notes” concept, which had been limited to songs, by covering podcasts and audiobooks as well. NDTV reports that user-created notes roll out globally across more than 100 markets on iOS and Android. Editorial notes and related “Editor Profiles” features are initially available to eligible users in six countries. 9to5Mac focuses on the broader expansion of the feature and the added playlist context for podcasts and audiobook selections, reflecting the main functionality changes.
