South Korean actor Yoo Ah-in is set to return to film with an occult thriller, “Vampir,” after a prolonged hiatus following a drug case. Multiple outlets report that the production has finalized the cast and is beginning principal photography this month, with a target release in 2028.
“Vampir,” directed by Jang Jae-hyun, is described as a mystery occult thriller. The plot centers on an unidentified contract killer who tracks down a mysterious pagan group at the request of a clergyman. The film is Jang’s first project since “Exhuma” (2024), which performed strongly at the box office. Casting announcements include Yoo Ah-in and other actors named by outlets.
The reports also recap Yoo’s legal timeline and its impact on his career. Korea Times says he was sentenced in February 2025 to one year in prison, suspended for two years, and fined 2 million won, with the Supreme Court finalizing the sentence about five months later. It also notes that Yoo suspended activities after allegations surfaced in 2023 and withdrew from Netflix’s “Hellbound.” The Times of India adds that his probation ends in July 2027, which it frames as opening the way for his comeback.
