Democratic Senate hopeful Mary Peltola is facing criticism after records cited by multiple outlets show she missed a significant number of votes while serving in Alaska government roles.

Fox News and the New York Post report that legislative and local records indicate Peltola missed 794 of 4,265 Alaska House votes, representing about 18.6%, during her terms from 1999 to 2009. Fox News also adds that she missed hundreds of meetings while serving on the Bethel City Council, including more than a third of meetings, according to its cited records. The outlets frame the issue as a matter of attendance at taxpayer-funded positions, focusing on the number and proportion of missed votes or meetings.
