Amazon increases prices on a range of its hardware products by as much as 60%, attributing the changes to a continuing shortage and higher costs for memory and storage components. The company says it has absorbed the increased costs “for as long as we could” before adjusting pricing across product lines.
Multiple outlets report that the price increases affect popular devices including Fire TV models, Echo speakers, Kindle e-readers, and Eero routers. One cited example is the Echo Dot, which reportedly rises from $49.99 to $79.99 overnight, according to price-tracking data referenced by Slashdot.
Amazon also indicates it will still run occasional promotions for customers during the coming year, even as list prices have been adjusted.
