A spokesperson for Nigeria’s New Democratic Congress (NDC) urges the party to remove “opportunistic content creators” who he says present themselves as activists ahead of the 2027 elections. Theo Agada makes the call in response to a social media video involving a creator identified as Flag Boy NG.
In the video, the creator appears to display political materials linked to the Obidient Movement and the NDC, including items associated with Peter Obi, before removing the shirt, collecting the items, pouring liquid on them and setting them on fire. The footage ends with a graphic reading “Flagboy NG” alongside Nigerian flags. Nigerian Eye reports that the post triggers mixed reactions online, with some viewers interpreting it as an effort to distance the creator from the NDC and the Obidient Movement.
Agada says he is “exhausted” by what he describes as activism used for personal gain and criticizes content creators he believes compete for influence in small political groups. He does not provide independent confirmation that the creator has formally left the NDC, and the outlets note the situation is framed through his comments rather than verified organisational action by the party.
