Nigeria Immigration Service announces passport intervention in four UK cities

NIS will hold a passport intervention exercise in 4 UK cities from September 7 to 26, allowing Nigerians to apply, renew passports or resolve pending applications.

The Federal Government has announced a special passport intervention exercise for Nigerians in the United Kingdom, with services available in London, Manchester, Aberdeen and Cardiff.The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) will conduct the exercise following a directive from Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo and consultations with the Nigerian High Commission and community representatives in the UK. A Passport Intervention Team from NIS headquarters in Abuja has been deployed for the operation.According to a statement by NIS Public Relations Officer DCI Akinsola Akinlabi, the London and Manchester sessions will run from September 7 to 19, 2026. London applicants can visit Layali Lounge, Trent Park, Bramley Road, London N14 4UW, while those in Manchester should go to Nigerian House, 23 Platt Lane, Manchester M14 5NE.The team will then move to Aberdeen and Cardiff from September 21 to 26. Aberdeen services will be held at the Hilton Convention Centre, 13 Smithfield Road, Aberdeen AB24 4NR, and Cardiff sessions at Sophia Gardens, Sophia Walk, Cardiff CF11 9XR.Eligible Nigerians in these cities and nearby areas are encouraged to use the opportunity to apply for new passports, renew existing ones or clear pending applications. All applicants must first complete their applications and make payments online via the official NIS Passport Application portal before attending.Required documents include the completed application form, payment slip, appointment slip and a self-addressed return envelope. Those renewing must also bring their current passport. Cash payments will not be accepted at the venues.The NIS urged full cooperation with officials to ensure a smooth process.
