A tanker carrying about 28 tonnes of benzene develops a leak in Chembur, prompting an emergency response from civic and other authorities. The incident is reported near Mysore Colony on Mahul Road, close to the Monorail station, with officials saying no injuries are reported.

Authorities cordon off an area of about 500 metres around the leak site as a precaution and manage traffic diversions. Multiple outlets report that the benzene is successfully transferred (decanted) from the affected tanker into an empty tanker as part of containment efforts. The operation is described as completed in the late evening, after which both tankers are moved to BPCL refinery premises.

While all accounts agree on the leak, the safety cordon, decanting, and absence of injuries, they differ mainly on timing details and supplementary measures. One report notes emergency measures begin after the incident is reported to the BMC Disaster Management Cell, and also describes washing the affected road with jet water. Another emphasizes traffic restoration and continued monitoring through the operation. The cause of the leak is not established in the reports.
