A Turkish deep-sea search and rescue vessel is heading to Cyprus to support efforts to locate survivors and recover key evidence after a passenger ferry capsizes off the island’s northern coast. Turkey’s TCG Isin is expected to help retrieve the voyage data recorder from the Filo Jet, which lies about 514 metres below the surface, as rescuers continue searching for 20 people reported still missing.
The ferry sank on Sunday, according to reporting, about four nautical miles from Kyrenia, a port town in northern Cyprus. Multiple outlets describe a large, ongoing operation involving local and international responders, including air and sea searches, while investigators work on the wreck.
