Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson pitches himself for Kratos role in God of War series

Hafthor Bjornsson has expressed interest in playing Kratos in the God of War series. He shared images and asked fans for their opinions on his potential casting. Dave Bautista is currently attached to portray Kratos in the upcoming show. The series will follow the narrative of the recent God of War video games. Production for the two-season show is expected to resume soon in Vancouver.

God of War fans have been on a rollercoaster ride recently while waiting for the TV show adaptation to come to life. After originally casting Ryan Hurst for the role, Amazon was forced to find another suitably ripped actor after Hurst was horrifically injured on set. Last week his replacement, Dave Bautista, showed off his transformation so far for the role. Now, though, Game of Thrones actor Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, or Thor Bjornsson, who played The Mountain in the HBO series, has shared an image depicting him as Kratos, asking fans if they'd like to see him take on the role. https://twitter.com/ThorBjornsson_/status/2096705259036946858?s=20 Posting on X, Bjornsson captioned the image, "Be honest... would you guys want to see me as Kratos?" The image, likely generated by AI, shows the ripped actor in an even more ripped state, dressed in Kratos' attire, complete with his trademark red tattoo, inked to honor his brother, Deimos. Of course, with Bautista already cast, Bjornsson's desire to portray Kratos is merely a wish, and isn't likely to come to fruition, but it's fun to see the towering 6 foot 9 Icelandic strongman looking like a Spartan warrior. Several other actors have expressed a desire to play the role, including Christopher Judge, the game's original voice actor. However, he's pretty frustrated that TV show adaptations regularly fail to hire anyone that worked on the source material. The God of War TV show is expected to resume production in late October or early November, although there's no estimated release date for the series just yet.
