India’s expanding battery industry is projected to create between 1.5 million and 2 million jobs by FY30, according to Adecco India. The estimate is tied to a shift from importing and assembling lithium-ion cells toward more integrated domestic battery manufacturing across the value chain.

Adecco’s outlook also links job growth to expanding supply and industrial ecosystems, with Adecco expecting around 25% of openings to be direct roles and about 75% to be indirect employment. Hiring demand is projected to rise about 25–30% annually, with greater emphasis on skilled profiles such as electrochemistry, materials science, battery engineering, manufacturing, and recycling.

The articles note that battery gigafactories in states including Gujarat, Karnataka, Haryana, and Telangana are expected to concentrate much of the recruitment demand. Capacity expansion is described as ongoing, with India’s lithium battery manufacturing capacity currently around 60 GWh and expected to approach 100 GWh by the end of 2026. The reporting also cites government support under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for Advanced Chemistry Cells, including Rs 18,100 crore to develop 50 GWh of domestic capacity, with lithium battery manufacturing expected to account for roughly 50–60% of projected green manufacturing jobs by 2030.
