Huawei has launched the Huawei Mate XT 2 Ultimate Design in China, marking the company’s second tri-fold smartphone following last year’s Mate XT, which was billed as the first mass-market tri-fold model. Several outlets frame the release as the culmination of an expected launch window, with Huawei having previously pointed to a September 7 event.
The new device uses a tri-fold form factor with an inward-folding architecture and a large display when opened up. NDTV reports a 10.2-inch 3K OLED screen in the fully unfolded state. The phone includes a triple-camera array on the exterior, featuring a 50-megapixel primary camera plus 48-megapixel ultra-wide and 48-megapixel periscope telephoto lenses. It is powered by Huawei’s Kirin 9050 Pro chipset and carries a 5,600mAh battery with 66W wired charging.
