Delhi airport operator DIAL files a First Information Report (FIR) with Delhi Police against 63 social media accounts and handles, alleging they spread misleading posts about flooding and waterlogging at the airport. The complaint comes amid an incident in which there is temporary water accumulation in the T3 arrival forecourt after heavy rainfall.
DIAL says airport operations are not affected by the rainfall-related water accumulation. It alleges that some posts falsely claim major disruption to operations and use misleading visuals or descriptions of the situation. Different outlets characterize the posts similarly as misleading, but vary slightly in how they describe the alleged content—some focus on the flooding and waterlogging depictions, while others emphasize the claim that flights or airport functioning were disrupted. The FIR’s core allegation across reports is that the online posts misrepresent conditions and wrongly suggest operational impact.
Delhi Police is expected to examine the complaint and the targeted accounts as part of the FIR process.
