A 40-year-old domestic worker is arrested in Mumbai for allegedly stealing a diamond-studded gold bangle worth around ₹5 lakh from the residence of actress Ameesha Patel’s mother, Asha Patel. Police say the theft occurred in January 2026 and that they have not yet recovered the jewellery.
Mumbai police registered a first information report on the complaint lodged by Asha Patel after months of suspicion. One report says she had been asking the accused to admit the theft and return the bangle for around five to six months. Another account places the theft at the family’s Churchgate-area home and similarly describes the same alleged loss, the same accused, and the same January 2026 timeline.
Investigators trace the woman to Virar/Palghar and take her into custody. Police remand her to police custody until September 15 while they pursue recovery and check whether she has any previous criminal record. Sources also report that investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding the domestic work arrangement and the delay between the alleged theft and the complaint.
