Indian wushu athlete Divyanshi, 18, threatens suicide after being left out of India’s Asian Games 2026 wushu squad at the last minute. She says her removal from the women’s 60kg Sanda category happened shortly before the Indian contingent is scheduled to leave for Japan. In a nearly nine-minute video posted on September 11, Divyanshi alleges months of mental harassment and says she no longer sees a point in living.
The Wushu Federation says Divyanshi was excluded after a medical examination found an ACL injury and judged her unfit to compete, and it also says she was not training properly. Her coach, Ashok Gautam, disputes this, saying doctors repeatedly cleared her to compete with taping and that the injury was not serious enough to rule her out. He says Divyanshi had won all five selection trials and was replaced despite those results.
Gautam also raises questions about the fitness assessment and selection process, and he alleges Roshibina Devi, who replaced Divyanshi, used influence to secure a place. Divyanshi further alleges she was not given a chance to present medical reports before the decision and claims injuries and sustained harassment at the national camp. Sources do not independently verify these competing claims, and whether the squad change can be reversed is uncertain due to the team’s imminent departure.
