Samsung’s Galaxy S27 Ultra is set to keep its current 5x telephoto camera, according to leaker Ice Universe, which directly contradicts earlier rumors. The claim is that Samsung will not swap the existing 5x telephoto module for a new shorter 4x lens setup.

The conflicting reports center on proposed changes to Samsung’s telephoto arrangement. Earlier chatter said Samsung was testing a 50-megapixel 4x telephoto sensor with a 1/1.9-inch size and could replace both the existing 3x and 5x telephoto cameras with a single 4x unit. Ice Universe says this specific 5x-camera replacement rumor is “100% false,” adding that the S27 Ultra should retain the 5x telephoto hardware with a 1/2.52-inch sensor from the Galaxy S26 Ultra.

Both outlets describe Ice Universe’s denial of the 5x module change, while one also notes uncertainty about whether Samsung will remove a separate 3x telephoto camera module, suggesting any shift could be related to the 3x unit rather than the 5x camera.
