Japanese-born Korean actress Yuri Nakamura, known for Netflix’s “Romantics Anonymous,” dies at 44. Her agency, Alpha Agency, says she died on Sept 1 following a battle with rectal cancer, with the death announced in a statement on Sept 14.

Both outlets report that Nakamura had previously battled cancer about 13 years earlier. At the time, she and the agency president decided to keep the diagnosis private. Her cancer later went into remission, and she continued working without missing scheduled medical screening. According to the agency, cancer is detected again in January 2025. While surgery is described as successful, metastasis subsequently occurs, and she later dies from complications related to the condition.

The accounts align on the key timeline—her age, the rectal cancer diagnosis, the earlier cancer episode, the January 2025 detection, and her Sept 1 death—while differing only in how much background they provide on the first diagnosis and the agency’s decision to keep it confidential.
