The Supreme Court on September 15 grants actor Rajpal Yadav a final two-week window to submit a concrete plan to clear dues in multiple cheque-bounce cases, while directing him to deposit ₹2 crore with the court registry. The matter is set for further hearing on October 5.

A bench led by Chief Justice Surya Kant expressed concern about Yadav’s conduct, saying earlier directions were not complied with, and it frames the latest step as one last opportunity. During the hearing, senior advocates for Yadav sought time to present a proposal and indicated Yadav would deposit ₹2 crore to show good faith. The complainant’s side, representing M/s Murali Projects Pvt Ltd, says the company’s main concern is recovery and that commitments were not honoured.

The case stems from allegations that Yadav borrowed around ₹5 crore in 2010 for film financing, later issuing seven cheques of ₹1.05 crore each in 2013 as part of a settlement that were allegedly dishonoured. Sources note that the Delhi High Court upheld conviction and imposed three-month imprisonment, along with payment directions in each case, and ordered surrender of documents such as the passport.
