India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) responds after the Indian women’s cricket team refuses to accept the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 trophy. The MEA says the refusal involves cricket governance and therefore falls under the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) responsibilities.
The MEA statement comes as the trophy is tied to an awards event linked to ACC President and PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi. NDTV reports that the MEA does not take the position that the issue is a matter for external diplomacy, instead directing attention to the domestic cricket body.
