South Korea’s PanStar Group plans to expand its Arctic shipping activity after completing a trial container voyage to Europe that takes about 20 days. The company says it will increase Arctic trips beginning next year, aiming to establish a more regular seasonal service.

The routes are centered on the Northern Sea Route, which links Asia and Europe and can provide a shorter passage than the traditional Suez Canal route, depending on ice and seasonal conditions. Both outlets frame the effort as part of growing interest from container shippers in the Northern Sea Route as an alternative corridor for some cargo types.

Bloomberg adds that PanStar is betting it can compete with larger Chinese operators by focusing on high-value cargo rather than volume alone. The Japan Times emphasizes the overall draw of the Northern Sea Route for container shipping, highlighting the potential time advantage that motivates shippers to consider the route.
