The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) launches ‘OneTag,’ a FASTag portability service, on its Rajmargyatra app. The service lets FASTag users change their issuer bank while continuing to use the same physical FASTag tag affixed to their vehicle, avoiding the need to obtain a new tag.

NHAI says the feature is now available in the app and is intended to improve FASTag lifecycle management and customer convenience. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways characterizes it as strengthening India’s digital tolling architecture by simplifying the issuer-switching process and reducing repeated tag production and reissuance expenses. According to the reported process, users log in to the Rajmargyatra app, check eligibility using their vehicle registration number, receive a six-digit Mobile Verification Code from their current issuer, then select a new issuer, complete verification, and complete wallet onboarding.

Across the coverage, the main emphasis is that the FASTag ID linked to the vehicle registration number remains unchanged after successful portability. Outlets also note that the previous issuer closes the wallet and refunds the available balance, subject to applicable adjustments, and that interoperability has a six-month cooling period before it can be ported again.
