Actor Dev Sharma says he was rejected for the role of Lakshman in Nitesh Tiwari’s film Ramayana and in Adipurush. He says he auditioned for Lakshman in both productions but was not selected.
Sharma attributes the outcome to casting preferences related to physical appearance. He tells outlets that he was considered too tall, describing a gap of about two inches compared with the actor playing Ram. Times of India additionally reports that differences in height and overall physique with the performers cast as Ram played a role, and that Sharma initially interpreted the rejections as a sign his connection to the epic may not be meant to happen.
In contrast, NDTV focuses on his explanation that being too tall was the deciding factor. Both accounts agree that his auditioning for Lakshman did not lead to selection, and that he later secured a different role connected to Ramayan themes—Lord Ram in Mahakavya Shri Ramayan Katha, as reported by Times of India.
