Hong Kong Customs seizes a record shipment of suspected marijuana worth HK$125 million (about US$15.93 million) sent by sea, finding the drugs in a 40-foot container and arresting three people. The department says the seizure is its largest-ever seaborne drug bust.
Customs officials selected the container for inspection at the Kwai Chung Customhouse Cargo Examination Compound after conducting a risk assessment and intelligence analysis earlier in September. Multiple reports identify Sept. 2 as the date of the seizure and describe the drugs as about 535 kg of suspected cannabis buds.
