Soldiers rescue six university students and driver from kidnappers in Katsina

Troops of Sector 2, Operation Fansan Yamma, have successfully rescued six female students of the Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA) and their commercial driver after they were abducted in Katsina State.The incident occurred on the evening of Monday, September 21, 2026, along the Daye, Malumfashi Road in Danmusa Local Government Area. Armed men attacked a commercial vehicle travelling from Kaduna to Katsina and seized the passengers.Responding swiftly to a distress call, the troops arrived at the scene and forced the kidnappers to abandon their captives and flee into the surrounding area. All seven victims, the six FUDMA students and the male driver were rescued unhurt.The freed individuals underwent preliminary security profiling and medical checks before being handed over to the appropriate authorities for reunification with their families and university officials.The military credited the successful outcome to the rapid response of the troops and reaffirmed that Operation Fansan Yamma continues ongoing efforts to protect communities and combat kidnapping along vulnerable routes in the North-West.
