WhatsApp is rolling out a test of “third-party agent” chats to a limited group of iPhone beta users. The change is reported in the WhatsApp iOS beta build 26.37.10.70, discovered through TestFlight and referenced by outlets monitoring WhatsApp beta updates.
In the beta, the feature lets users create agents in WhatsApp and connect them to external services. NDTV reports that agent connections use an API key and that users can create up to five agents, then chat with those agents directly in the app. It also says these agent chats do not use end-to-end encryption, with Meta handling message delivery on behalf of agent developers. TechGenyz similarly notes that the rollout is constrained to some countries and a small number of testers, indicating an early-stage experiment rather than a broad release.
